Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack announced today that there is $18 million in funding for new farmer training programs. Although these are not paid directly to farmers, they support organizations that train new farmers. If you check out the announcement page at the National Sustainable Agriculture Coalition, you will find links to some of the groups that do work with new farmers directly - some that might be able to help you as you start farming.
