A fence around the beehive? To keep the bees in? No...to keep the bears out.
A bear attacked one of my beehives last week, tearing apart the frames, scattering bees and brood everywhere, and killing the queen. Poor bees! It took me some time to put everything back together. I had an electric fence around the hives, but hadn't plugged it back in after mowing the week before. Hungry bear, no electric shock to make him stop and think - that was all it took.

OH NO! That looks like an Evans Cedar Beehive!!
It was, Rob – and it survived beautifully. Not sure where 2 of the frames went!!! But the hive did great and held up. It now has several claw marks on it but stayed strong and sturdy through being violently knocked to the ground and strewn everywhere.
