I just saw this on Springwise and was fascinated. The UK's National Trust has begun a project called MyFarm, where a 2,500-acre farm will be managed by 10,000 "farmers" who sign up on the MyFarm website and pay an annual membership fee. Farmers do not need to have any previous farming experience. They also get to visit the farm for free.
The first vote takes place on May 26 with the question, "What should the farm grow?" Farm manager Richard Morris will establish the context for the decision by providing choices as well as information via text and video on the site.
It's a really interesting concept and I'll be following the project to see what happens.
