Sterling College, near in location and dear to my heart as a center of sustainable farming, local food and educational goodness, is offering a new curricular initiative next summer. Called Vermont's Table, the program offers "a fresh, hands-on approach to the study of farm-to-table food systems." With only 12 slots for students this first year, I have a feeling this program may fill up very quickly!
The classes - which range from food writing to food entrepreneurism to whole farm thinking - look toothsome, substantial and definitely fresh. I wanted to pass this opportunity on to my fellow small farmers. Although summer's a tough time to leave the farm, if you can manage it, or if you haven't quite gotten your operations off the ground just yet, this looks like a unique learning opportunity.
